Hello there! My name is Gary, (sometimes known as Mr. Sawdust), I have been tattooing since 2003. I specialize in American Traditional, and Japanese Traditional tattooing and am open to a variety of other tattoo styles. I prefer to work in color, but understand that some tattoos would be better in black and grey. I am always interested in hearing your tattoo ideas that may land outside of my normal parameters and enjoy a challenge.
I have spent most of my life living on the Central Coast of California. In addition to tattooing I paint, do carpentry and enjoy travelling with my wife, daughter and son.
DEPOSITS
A minimum deposit of at least $100 is required before we begin any drawing or before we can set an appointment. Larger designs will require a larger deposit, which will be determined based on the complexity of the artwork. Deposits will be applied to the total cost of the tattoo, for any multi-session tattoo, the deposit will be credited to the final session of the tattoo, so that there is a deposit in place for each appointment.
Any deposit made will be for the design it was originally paid towards and can not be transferred to another client, nor can the design be revised beyond small details. If you change your mind on your tattoo idea, a new deposit will be needed. From the moment we accept a tattoo request we begin commiting time and energy brainstorming, researching and working on the design process. Therefore once a deposit has been submitted it is NON REFUNDABLE.
If for any reason you need to reschedule an appointment we require a minimum of 48 hours notice. Anything less than 48 hours will result in your deposit being forfeited, and a new deposit will need to be in place before a new appointment can be made.
COVER UPS
Cover up requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. My goal with any cover up, is to effectively conceal the old work in a way that you would never know the old work was ever there. In order to accomplish that, I do require that I have a very large amount of creative direction with the artwork. It is essential with any effective cover up that there is a lot of flexibility with the artwork, both conceptually and physically. The technical aspects involved with cover ups are much more complicated than a fresh tattoo on clear skin. In some cases it may be advisable to include some laser removal treatments prior to the cover up. With partial laser treatments the old work can be lightened enough that it will dramatically increase the options for the new artwork. Cover up work will take longer than fresh skin tattoos in order to blend out the older work, so be prepared for the aspect of needing multiple sessions to layer the new design over the old and achieve smooth results.
